Charity In The Province of Surrey

Kindness has always been a core principle of Freemasonry. Individuals give time and money to help others, whether locally, nationally or globally. It may be realising a dream for a member’s child, caring for older Freemasons, volunteering on a local community project, making donations to other UK charities or responding to an international disaster appeal.

What is Masonic Charity?

One of the cornerstones of our Fraternity is charitable giving and support within the local community to both Masonic and public charities.

Donations are also made to National and International charities where relief or much needed funds for aid is needed.

It is not just about money but caring and supporting those in need of help and assistance.

How Do Masons Give To Charity?

Every Mason is encouraged to give within his means and without detriment to his family.

Charity is raised in many ways either through donations at each meeting or even a fun event where the family can also get involved.

Individual lodges donate to local good causes, to projects within their communities and to National causes.

Lodges also donate to the Surrey for Surrey Fund where donations are accumulated that a larger donation is made to charity organisations in Surrey.

The Province of Surrey also supports National charities and sends much needed funds where a disaster has occurred or a piece of equipment is needed in a hospital.

2019 Festival

Each year one of the Masonic Provinces holds a festival in aid of one of the main Masonic Charities.

The Masonic Charitable Foundation

In April 2016 the Masonic Charitable Foundation launches.

This is an amalgamation of four of the central charities. The MCF will provide grants and assistance to Freemasons and their families who have financial, health and care or family need.
